I. OBJECTIVES:
Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
	- Use adverbs of manner.
	- Give advice, using Modal “Should”.
	- Report other’s commands, requests, and advice.

- Have students match the adjectives and the adverbs.

- Have students notice the words: hard (adj) and hard (adv) that have different meanings
2. Exercises: (35’)
a/ Exercise 1:
- Set the scene. Ask students to complete the sentence, using some of the words from the matching exercise above.
 Lan has a (1) voice and she usually speaks (2) 
 ª Answer: 
 (1) : soft / good / bad
 (2) : softly / well / badly
- Help students distinguish the use of adjectives and adverbs
 ˜ Form: 
 1. S + V + A/AN + ADJECTIVE + NOUN
 S + BE + ADJECTIVE
 2. S + V + (O) + ADVERB
 ˜ Use:
 + Adjective modifies the noun after it and the subject.
 + Adverb modifies the ordinary verb of the sentence.
- Ask students to complete the dialogues in pairs.
- Have students give feedback.

b/ Exercise 3:
- Set the scene: “Tim’s mother went to the school and met his form teacher, Miss Jackson. Miss Jackson told his mother something about his study”
- Ask questions:

2. What did Tim’s mother report them to Tim?
 ¯ Answers:
 1. “Can you give Tim this dictionary?
 “Tim should work harder on his Spanish pronunciation”
 2. “Miss Jackson asked me to give you this dictionary”
 “ Miss Jackson said you should work harder on your Spanish pronunciation”
- Explain the reported speech:

 Reporting a command or a request:
 S + ASK/TELL + someone + to do something
 Reporting an advice
 S + SAY + someone + should do something
- Ask students to work in pairs to do the exercise 3 on the page 53.
- Ask students to give feedback.

c. Miss Jackson asked me to help you with your pronunciation.
d. Miss Jackson told me to meet her next week.
c/ Exercise 4:
- Ask students to work in pairs to do the exercise 4 on the page 53.
- Ask students to give feedback.

c. Miss Jackson said you should listen to Spanish conversations on TV.
