Unit 20: A POSTCARD - Một tấm bưu thiếp
Trong bài này, chúng ta sẽ làm quen với cách viết một bức thư của người Anh và cấu trúc câu What + be + subject + like?và How + be + subject? (cái gì như thế nào?) được sử dụng để hỏi khi muốn người khác miêu tả về sự vật, sự việc, con người.

What + be + subject + like?
How + be + subject?
What + be + subject + like? Cái gì như thế nào? và How + be + subject? Cái gì như thế nào? được sử dụng để hỏi khi muốn người khác miêu tả về sự vật, sự việc, con người, ví dụ:
"What's the weather like?". "Thời tiết như thế nào?"
"It's rainy."  "Có mưa"
"What are French people like?". "Người Pháp như thế nào?"
"They are quiet friendly.?". "Họ khá thân thiện."
"How is the food?". "Thức ăn như thế nào?"
"It's very delicious". "Nó ngon lắm"
"How are your rooms?". "Phòng của bạn như thế nào?"
"They are excellent.". "Chúng rất tuyệt vời."
Bạn cần lưu ý để tránh nhầm lẫn How + be + subject? còn được dùng để hỏi thăm về sức khỏe như:
"How are you?". "Bạn có khỏe không?"
"I'm fine, thanks.". "Tôi khỏe, cám ơn."
"How are your parents?". "Bố mẹ anh khỏe không?"
"They are so so, thank you.". "Họ cũng bình thường, cám ơn chị"
How to write a postcard to your friends or your relatives.
Cách viết một bức thư cho bạn bè hoặc người thân.
Things You'll Need. Những thứ bạn sẽ cần
Money to buy a postcard and stamp. Tiền mua bưu thiếp và tem
A pen. Một cái bút
The recipient's address. Địa chỉ người nhận
Steps. Các bước
Buy a postcard from a souvenir shop. It should have a picture of the place you're at on it.
Write the information as follows:
Write the recipient's name and address on the lines on the right hand side of the postcard. Don't forget to include the country - you might not have to do this at home, but you do if you're abroad.
The left hand side of the postcard is for your message. Start by writing "Dear ... (the name of the person you're writing to)."
Leave a line and state where you are and what it's like or what th weather's like, for example : "I'm in Paris, it's great." or "This is a picture of Paris. The weather's beautiful."
Write a sentence about your accommodation, like : "The hotel is lovely. It has a big fountain outside and there's a beautiful view from our window."
Write a sentence about food, drink and people, like: "The food isn't very good but the coffee is OK. The people are quite friendly."
Then include a description of something you did on one of the days that you enjoyed, such as : "Yesterday we went on a boat trip across the river, I loved finding out about all the different sights in the city." 
Write a comment about something particularly good, bad or funny about the holiday, like : "I tried raw fish but they were horrible."
Finish off by writing: "Wish you were here,", "See you on Friday," or "Best wishes" and then sign off with : "Love (your name) xxx"
Your postcard should now be in the same format as this:
Dear ... 
I'm in Paris, it's great. The weather is beautiful. The hotel is lovely, it has a big fountain outside and there's a beautiful view from our window. The food isn't very good but the coffee is OK. The people are quite friendly. Yesterday we went on a boat trip across the river. I loved finding out about all the different sights in the city. I tried raw fish but they were horrible.
Wish you were here. Love (your name) xxx
Stick a stamp onto the top right corner of the postcard and send it.
Tips. Lời khuyên
Include lots of details but keep it short and sweet.
Make sure you know the person's address before you start writing the message or you could waste a lot of time.
Postcards are not put in envelopes, so don't write anything you wouldn't want the postman to read!
