I. OBJECTIVES:

Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a narrative paragraph by using a guided composition.

II. PREPARATIONS: Book

1. Warm – Up: (5)

Chatting

- Ask students some questions about their felling when wearing different types of clothing, especially Jeans

2. Pre – Writing: (10)

- Introduce the lesson by giving the pictures.

- Explain some new words.

+ Paddle (v)

+ Canoe (n)

+ Hire (v)

+ Overturn (v)

+ Rescue (v) = save somebodys life from danger.

- Read new words, ask students to listen and repeat.

- Checking vocabulary (Rub out and remember)

- Stick or draw the following table on the board.

- Tell students that it is the outline to present one narrative .

3. While – Writing: (15)

- Set the scene:” Last week , while on vacation in DaLat the Jones family had quite an unforgettable adventure on XuanHuong Lake .What did they do and what happened to them?”

- Ask students to open the books and read the first part f the story on page 105 and rearrange the sentences on page 106 to complete the story.

- Call some students to read the story aloud for the class and correct pronunciation errors.

Answer key:

c, a, g, d, f, b, e,

- Ask students to look at the pictures on page 106 and 107 and guess the meaning of the words

- Write the vocabulary on the board and ask students to match them.

4. Post – Writing: (13)

- Ask students to look at the pictures again and rearrange the events in the correct chronological order to make it a story.

- Give answer key:

d, b,e, h, a, f, c, , g,

- Ask students to use the pictures already rearranged and the given words to write the story about Uyen

- Monitor and help students with words or structures while they are writing.

- After students finish, call some students to read their story aloud for the class.

- Give the feedback and correct.

- Ask students to notice the past simple tense is often used in the narrative.

5. Homework: (2)

- Write a story that happened with you.

- Prepare next lesson: Unit 11- Language Focus/ page 108- 110.
