I. OBJECTIVES:

Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Identify how to cook “Special Chinese Fried Rice”.

- Develop listening skill.

II. PREPARATIONS: book, cassette tape

III. PROCEDURES:

Teachers activities Students activities

1. Warm – Up: (5)

- Ask students to describe the position of the objects (pictures)

- Ask questions: 1. Wheres the ?

 2. Should we put the on the ?

 3. Where can we put it/them?

2. Pre – Listening: (8)

- Ask pre-listening questions:

1. What do you often eat every day?

2. Can you cook rice?

3. Can you fry rice?

4. Do you like to eat fried rice?

 5. Do you ever enjoy the “Special Chinese Fried Rice”?

 6. Do you know what ingredients to make it?

- Introduce the lesson.

- Ask students to look at the pictures to identify the necessary food ingredients and kitchen terms to make the “Special Chinese Fried Rice”

- Explain vocabulary: garlic, ham, green pepper, teaspoon of salt

3. While – Listening: (15)

 Activity 1: Listen and check the right item

- Play the tape for students.

- Have students cross-check the answers and compare them with the initial guesses.

- Ask students to give out the answers.

 c. garlic and green peppers d. ham and peas

 Activity 2: Listen and order the sentences

- Play the tape for students again to put the recipe of making the “Special Chinese Fried Rice” in the correct order.

 a. Put the rice and a teaspoon of salt in.

b. Wait until its hot.

c. Put the ham and the peas in.

d. Fry the garlic and the green peppers.

 e. Use the big pan.

 f. Put a little oil in.

g. Put the pan on the stove.

 h. It smells delicious.

- Have students cross-check the answer.

- Ask students to read the answer.

- Remarks and correct mistakes if necessary.

1 + e: Use the big pan.

2 + g: Put the pan on the stove.

3 + f: Put a little oil in.

4 + b: Wait until its hot.

5 + d: Fry the garlic and the green peppers.

6 + c: Put the ham and the peas in.

7 + a: Put the rice and a teaspoon of salt in.

8 + h: It smells delicious.

4. Post – Listening: (15)

- Ask students to write the ingredients to make Vietnamese fried rice and its recipe.

- Call some groups to read their answer.

- Listen and correct mistakes if necessary.

5. Homework: (2)

- Ask students to write the recipe of making the “Special Chinese Fried Rice” and learn it by heart and the Vietnamese fried rice.

Prepare next lesson: Unit 3 – Read/ p. 31, 32

- Look at the pictures and describe the position of the objects

- Answer the questions.

- Think and try to answer the questions.

- Listen to the teacher.

- Look and say.

- Listen and write.

- Listen to the tape.

- Pair works.
