I. OBJECTIVES:

Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

 - Talk about the position of things in a room.

 - Describe the position of things.

 - Develop their speaking skill.

II. PREPARATIONS: book, cassette tape

III. PROCEDURES:

Teachers activities Students activities

1. Warm – Up: (5)

- Ask students to talk about the chores they often do at home.

- Ask questions.

 What do you have to do at home every day?

 Do you have to (sweep the floor)?

2. Pre – Speaking: (8)

- Have students do brainstorming.

 1. What things are there in the kitchen?

 2. What things are there in the kitchen?

 - Have students look at the picture/p.28 to identify the objects in the kitchen.

- Ask questions: Where is the (calendar)?

 Its on the wall.

 - Remind students of the prepositions of places: in, on, at, under, above, beside, next to, between

3. While – Speaking: (15)

- Ask students to talk about the positions of the other objects in the picture.

- Have students read the answers.

1. The calendar is on the wall, under the clock, and above the refrigerator.

2. The sink is next to the stove.

3. the cupboard is on the wall, above the counter.

4. The knives are on the wall, under the cupboard.

5. The bowl of fruit is between the rice cooker and the dish rack.

6. The clock is on the wall, above the refrigerator.

7. The flowers are on the table.

8. The saucepan, the frying pan, and the pot are on the wall. .

- Have students name the objects in the picture/p.29.

 Lets put the armchair opposite the couch.

- Call some pairs/groups to display their answers on the board.

1. I think the coffee table should be between the couch and the armchair.

2. Lets put the magazines an the shelf above the books.

4. Lets put the telephone and the lamp on the small table next to the couch.

5. The TV and stereo should be put on the shelf.

6. I think we should hang the picture/the clock on the wall above the couch.

4. Post – Speaking: (15)

- Have students to describe the position of the furniture in their living room.

- Call some students to read the answer.

5. Homework: (2)

- Ask students to redo exercise.

 Prepare next lesson: Unit 3– Listen/ p.30.

- Talk about the chores they often do at home.

- Answer the questions.

- Discuss in groups.

 LIVING ROOM: couch, armchair, table, chair, coffee table, shelf, lamp, television, telephone, clock
