I. Aims :
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to write about hobbies .
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to express themselves in writing.

IV- Teaching aids: - textbook - handouts - Sheets of paper - chalk and board Techniques : writing-based Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm-up (7’) Checking the previous lesson - Ask one St write some language which is necessary for writing hobbies - ask him/ her read out - check the answer Transition: last time we studied components and language of writing hobbies; and words and phrases for writing hobbies. Today we’ll how to write a complete a writing of hobbies. - write down on the board: Unit12: Writing about hobbies (cont) 2. Pre- writing (10’) Presenting an outline:Chart completion ( task a, textbook, p.168) - put SS into pairs - Ask SS to read the paragraphs and complete the chart - assign SS to give the answers. -Check the answers with the whole class. - draw SS’ attention to the tenses used in the report. + I began collecting stamps when I was eleven years old. / when I was at primary school + I took it up when I was an 11 year – old boy. 3. while-writing (20’) Writing it up -Elicit the answers to the questions similar to the content in the chart ( textbook, p. 168) -Put SS into pairs. -tell SS to write a paragraph about their hobbies. - go around to monitor the class and give help where needed -When they have finished, get SS to exchange their writings with their neighbors’. -Call on some SS to read their friends’ writings one by one. -Get SS to listen carefully and ask some questions as in the chart to both check listening comprehension and make sure SS include necessary information in their writing. -Invite class opinions and make corrections in front of the whole class. Small board, 4. Post-writing (10’) reading: Cloze test (handouts) -Arrange SS into groups of three. -Give each group a copy of the task. 5.Homework Writing (continue in P. 100) Some people take up hobbies as a *fad. What do you think? Write a short essay of 250 words expressing you points of view. *fad: something that people are interested in for only a short period of time textbook
