I. Aims :
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to know more words used in computing and telephoning.
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to put conditional sentences in reported speech

Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm-up (4’) GAME: “pelmanism” - Divide the class into two groups, TIGERS and LIONS - stick these two sets of cards ( all mixed up) face down onto the board. - SS in each group take turns to choose ( just by calling out) one number and one letter. The teacher then turns the picture card and the word card face up, and put them together on the board. If the picture and the word match, the group gains one point. If there no match, then the turn passes to the next group. Play continues in the way until all the picture cards and word card are turned face up. - keep a running total of points for each group on the board. - the group with more points wins - transition: today we’re going to learn more about words used in computing and telephoning and other grammar points - write down on the board: Set 1: 13 cut-up word cards(13 words in the textbook p.114) which are numbered from 1-13 on the back. Set 2: 13 cut-up word cards ( 13 words in the textbook, p114) which are labeled from a to m corresponding to the 13 pictures above. Unit 8: Language Focus – Grammar. -cards - chalk and board 2. Grammar + word study(40’): (10’) (10’) (10’) A. words used in computing: - Have SS look at the matches on the board again. - Get Ss to repeat the words after teacher - assign some SS to read aloud the words - make correction if necessary. - then remove the word cards from the board. - point to the pictures and have SS speak out - Tell SS that the words they have learnt are parts of a personal computer. - elicit some verbs associated with computing Gap-filling ( Task b, p.115) - have SS do task b, textbook, p.115 - call on SS to write the answers on the board - invite class opinions and give feedback. Matching-up (task c, p. 115) - Put SS into pairs - Have SS match up each sentence in column - Call on SS to role-play the exchanges A with its response in column B. - Invite class opinions and give feedback. B. Grammar: someone, anyone, everyone, no one = somebody, anybody, everybody, nobody. - these pronouns are followed by a singular verb, but we refer back to them in a sentence with they/them/their. Someone / anyone: - someone is common in positive sentences and anyone in questions and negative - someone has the idea of a definite idea, and anyone has the meaning of ‘no limit’ Activity 3: Verb From Review ( Task a,b P32-33) - Elicit from Sts the tense used to express a habitual action. - Ask Sts to complete the texts with the correct tense & form of the verbs - Tell Sts to compare answers with a partner and then go over the answers someone, anyone, everyone, no one + Sing.
