Lexical items : - schedule - supposed - final III- Structures : - The finals are supposed to take place from December 5 through December 10 - I enjoyed watching wushu because Teaching aids: - textbook - Handouts - chalk - cards Techniques : - skill-based ( listening, speaking) Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm-up (7’) Games: Puzzle -Put the class into groups of three - give each student a copy of the exercise. - within groups, SS fill in the gaps and work out the hidden word. - draw SS attention to letters in circles because they will spell out the hidden word. - Allow SS 5 minutes to do the puzzle. - as the time is up, get groups to hand in their results. - award one point for each correct word and five points for the hidden word. - The group with more points wins. Homework (1’) Activity 1:talking about the schedule (textbook, p. 156) - explain some new sports from the schedule. - arrange SS into groups of four, asking and answering questions about due dates of games based on the schedule provided. - put an example in front of the whole class. T: when will the karate finals take place? S1: they are supposed to happen from Dec. 11 to Dec. 12 T: what about the competition dates for triathlon? S2: ok, let see. From Nov. 28 through Dec. 7 - go around to monitor the class and give help if necessary - call on SS to act out their conversations. - invite class opinions and give feedback Activity 2: talking bout soccer result. (task c, p 158) - have SS work in pairs, talking about the results of the soccer games provided in the textbook. - call on SS to give their performances to the whole class. - invite class opinions and give feedback. Activity 3: Talking about favorite sports - put SS into groups of four. - Get SS to discuss their favorite sports. - Move around the class offering help where necessary. - elicit answers from SS. - give comments as appropriate. Listening: - Ask SS to listen and check the word or phrase they hear. - call on SS to give answers. - invite class opinions and give feedback.
